What are the requirements to rent a scooter or e-bike?

🚲 E-bike

Be at least 18 years old
Bring a valid ID (national ID card or passport)

No driving license required.

50cc scooter: 18+ — Class B or AM (moped) license.

125cc scooter: 20+ — A1 or A license, or Class B with 125cc training, or Class B obtained before March 1, 1980.

Question 2

Is there a security deposit and how much is it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a security deposit is required at pick-up. The amount depends on the model — it is shown on the Models page and during booking (same place as rental rates).

The deposit is refunded at the end of the rental if the vehicle is returned in the same condition. Refund within 24 hours after inspection.

Usually a card pre-authorization (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). Cash deposit may be possible — ask us in advance.

👉 Rentals longer than 6 days and 18 hours: deposit by bank transfer or cash.

If there is damage, the deposit may be held and then partially refunded after repair costs are assessed. You will be informed before any charge on your deposit.

What is the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

When booking, a 30% deposit of the total amount is charged online.  
The balance is to be paid at the time of key handover.

Cancellation cases:

Cancellation by the rental company:  
  The deposit is fully refunded, regardless of the reason.

Cancellation by the rental company due to non-compliance with rental conditions by the customer:  
  The deposit is retained.

Cancellation by the customer:  
  - More than 5 days before the rental date → 100% refund of the deposit  
  - Between 2 and 5 days before → 50% refund  
  - Between 1 and 2 days before → 25% refund  
  - Less than 24 hours before → No refund (the deposit is lost)

Scoot ma Poule is not required to refund a rental once it has started, regardless of the reason given (including unfavorable weather conditions).

The deposit refund can be made:  
on the same payment method used during booking  
in cash  
or as credit valid for 12 months for a future rental

How does payment work?

Our online store uses Stripe, one of the world's leading secure online payment processors, to handle all financial transactions.

When you finalize your booking, you enter your payment information in a secure form managed directly by Stripe.
This system supports most credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.), and all data is encrypted to ensure maximum security.

👉 We do not store your banking information and never have access to it.
Stripe processes and protects this data completely independently.

Thanks to this system, we can handle both:

standard payments (booking, balance, options, etc.)

and deposits via bank authorization (pre-authorization).

It is also possible to pay in cash when picking up your vehicle, in the presence of a Scoot ma Poule team member.
